lyrics

1.  take me to the sun

2.  not the one

3.  something has got to you

4.  abundant lack of motivation

5.  vulnerable

gotta give it up

listen to this song

i never meet pretty women

pretty women with pretty souls

supermodel begs to differ

supermodel why are you so cold?

gotta give it up for those ugly girls

they treat you well if you like to flirt

gotta give it up for those ugly girls

they treat you well if you like to flirt

muscle-man with a tan

you're looking good, crush that can

superman you're quite suspicious

when you check out how wide you span

gotta give it up for an ugly man

he'll treat you well if you shake his hand

gotta give it up for an ugly man

he'll treat you well if you shake his hand

   get over yourself

   and under your skin

   look within

i wasn't blessed with a figure

i wasn't blessed with a chiseled face

i have faith that god delivers

i figured out my humble place

gotta give it up for this ugly world

it'll treat you well when you find your pearl

gotta give it up for this ugly world

it'll treat you well when you find your pearl

Playing in certain neighborhoods in NYC has its benefits.  Some stations are directly beneath some of the world’s top modeling agencies.  Only in New York do you see models, actors, and all sorts of celebrities riding the subway.  Eye candy, for sure.  But they have a distinct aura that, after a while, compelled me to write this song.

Rather than truly being with the rest of us, they're more about being watched by us.  In other words, there is this certain stare they all seem to have, that they carry off to the distance, saying, "Hey, I know you and everyone else are looking at me right now, but I'm just going to pretend I don't notice; therefore, I'll keep looking straight ahead and you and I won't relate."

I think one time, I was feeling bold and thought I'd glance intently at a supermodel who happened to stand flush beside me while I was strumming away.  We were elbow to elbow, and I thought it odd she wouldn't acknowledge our proximity in the slightest. I threw her a smile when she turned towards the train, but she just gave me this expression of, "Phht. Yeah, dream on buddy."

Well... right back atcha!

This song is true to my personal experience, seeing how I thought I was the shit in Boston.  New York humbled me in the best way possible.
