can’t go i knew you
like the back of my hand i'd rather
trust a reading of my palm instead i know you'd
like to think we're friends but you're a
distant solar system overhead and i know, i
can't go feeling like a
fallen flea i search the
ground you walk on for some company feeling if i
feel my legs paralyzed
emotions got the best of me and i know, i
can't go i wish that i
could go inside a state of
mind to save me from this love affair i hope i find
a perfect ride the kind that
won't break down or go beyond repair but i know, i
can't go |

Ah.... Summer of '95.
Most gut wrenching, immobilizing time of my life. It's true what they say when you get
your heart trampled on: "Never again." This song marks the unofficial end of
the album intended song cycle.
Along with the busker story, layout, and
photography, I was hoping to create a movie of sorts. All the songs leading up to this one
are distinct in theme, key, and flavor.
Like chapters or different scenes.
Outtakes aside, if the record only
went up to this track, and you were to put the disc on replay, so to speak,
the "movie" would cycle from despair back to hope; breakdown being the theme that clasps
the beginning and the end. Here
the breakdown is methaporical and
lead to misery, while in Take Me To the
Sun, the breakdown was actual
and lead to hope. The "outtakes" are to be
considered extra footage, if you will.
The last two tracks were just as much a part of the session as the
titles listed on the CD, but when it came time to putting it all together, I
felt they already shared themes expressed in my "movie"; hence, I
designated them as outtakes. This also explains why I opted to
include a lengthy pause between Can't
Go and the outtakes. Siobhan.
Thank you for this song. |
